Watch Box Structure: Pillow Sizing, Winders and Multi-slot Storage
How pillow diameter matches strap width and case thickness, plus winder selection and power options.
Pillow diameter follows strap inner circumference: an 18-20 mm strap needs a 55-60 mm pillow, while sport watches above 22 mm need 65-70 mm. Too thin and the strap collapses in display; too thick and it will not fit or will stress the strap. Movement thickness sets the internal height — allow 16-18 mm for mechanical watches and over 20 mm for divers. In multi-slot boxes keep at least 95 mm between slot centres, otherwise adjacent cases rub; soft dividers help. For winders, confirm rotation direction (clockwise, counter-clockwise or bidirectional) and turns per day, commonly 650-1800. Power can be battery, USB or dual; USB is recommended for Western exports to avoid battery shipping restrictions. Use acrylic rather than glass for windows to cut transit breakage, and prefer combination locks over key locks to avoid after-sales issues from lost keys.
